My overall impression
An impressive piece of writing about an heroic woman we should all know, admire and emulate – but who was left out of the history books. I truly appreciate a play that finds someone like Mary Seacole and brings her to life to enrich ours. Elegant performance by Amy Argyle playing a character who maintains her dignity through challenge after challenge. Twon Pope brought a nice energy and passion to Marry’s brother, Edward, and Emilie Martz gave a solid contrast to Mary as the envious and controlling Florence Nightingale. Well done, Matthew Robinson!
