What I liked

I’m not a comic-con person but I loved learning about it and the show finds the universal that’s-what-makes-us-human aspect to it all. So that was cool. I also loved the songs. “Something Original”, “Super Christian Psychic Alcoholic Alien Detective”, “Douchebag” to name a few. I love the moment when the guys starts singing to a background chorus in Sanskrit. So good.

What I didn't like

The woman puppeteer’s looks competed with her role because I think we were supposed to be looking at the puppet but she was so attractive it was hard to not notice the person. Plus, the fact that she wasn’t dressed in all black like you would expect with a puppeteer made it confusing. I wasn’t sure if we were supposed to be relating to her as a person with a puppet, as just a puppet, or an alien, etc. That was kind of frustrating. But also not that big of a deal. It’s an easy fix.

My overall impression

Wow! I LOVED this show. I’ve been burned so many times by theater in LA, and I’m not even a fan of musicals, but this was by far my favorite theater going experience in LA yet. My only disappointment is thinking that more people won’t be able to see this so I’m really hoping this thing takes off and goes big. It’s already been a couple weeks since I saw it and I still have several of the songs stuck in my head (mostly in a good way). Two thumbs way up.
