What I liked

What I didn't like
At times it was hard to see the Dead Boys. A lot of the action happened low to the ground or on the ground, which made it difficult to see all the amazing work that was being done.
Also, it could have been longer. I wanted to know more about the apocalypse.
My overall impression
Dead Boys is something special. Though the play is set during the end of the world, both the acting and writing are so grounded and human, I was thrown into the journey and was convinced it was all real.
Montgomery’s performance is fragile, sensitive, and witty. You fall in love with his character instantly. He somehow feels nervous and broken AND confident and wise. It’s really nuanced and impressive. Puente is just as strong. His character takes some time to warm up to, but by the end, you feel something deep for him.
Rarely does a play that handles so much politically feel so personal. I especially liked the discussion of race in relation to the gay community. More people should be talking about this. I’m glad Montgomery dove head first into a difficult topic without preaching.
This play is not to be missed.
