His portrayal of the character of the mother, an ailing older woman that demands all his attention. Christian acts with such finesse and humor that transcends the stage and transports you to his House of ME.
What I didn't like
The small venue makes you feel claustrophobic, as if you’re trapped inside his home (more like inside his head) with his deepest emotions, fears and disappointments. Oh and the people waiting for the next show outside the door were LOUD, I remember not liking that at all, it shows little respect for the actors and the audience… Shhhhhhhhh!!!!!
My overall impression
Christian is such a talented and multifaceted actor that portrays every character with a subtlety and nuance that keeps you captivated throughout the entire show. He welcomes you to his house where he takes care of his mother which makes it difficult to maintain a romantic relationship as her health deteriorates and sends him down-spiraling out of control. Highly recommend House of ME to anyone has had to sacrifice themselves to the point where they lose their own identity in the process.
