What I liked
Ms. Varda is an incredible powerhouse performer with an incredible singing voice, beautiful physicality, and is clearly enjoying herself on stage. I especially liked the piece about the beverly hills women—I could see Ms. Varda’s fear of becoming like them, disgust at their rejection of age, and desire to be like them all at the same time. Her commitment in this scene to the intensity and desperation of their/her experience affected me.
What I didn't like
I have to tell the truth. The amazingness of Ms. Varda’s figure was a bit distracting, as she spent half the show in a teddy.
My overall impression
Powerhouse singer and performer who explores issues around fashion and the feminine enslavement to body image.
