“Get Over Yourself” is an adventurous 60 minute serio-comedy. The protagonist, a part time yoga instructor, barista, and struggling actress, uses escapism of the things happening in her life – a loved one suffering from cancer, a stubborn broken heart, and surviving in the harsh realities of a big city. She parallels her life to the television show “Battlestar Galactica,” the movie “Memoirs of a Geisha,” and the video game “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.” The theme is how one uses fantasy to cope with the real world. It is ultimately a journey of self love.
This one woman show is written by and starring Kristin Mothersbaugh. The show is directed by Jessica Lynn Johnson of Soaring Solo and without her, this vision would not have come to fruition, as she was also the writing coach. Joseph Orellana is the Technical Director along with Megan DeHart as the Lighting Designer and Operator. It is produced by Kristin Mothersbaugh and the publicist is Jim Martkya. The Hollywood Fringe Festival 2016 is only the second time the show has been produced, and it is very exciting! The performances are at the Underground Theatre Annex (1314 N. Wilton Pl Los Angeles, CA 90028) at 8:00 pm on Saturday June 25th and 2:00 pm on Sunday the 26th. Please leave plenty of time for parking and I hope you enjoy the show!
