What I liked
Wonderful cast, great new songs, fast-paced transitions and, well, NOIR! Love the setting and concept, had an absolute blast as 2 hours went by quickly.
What I didn't like
This potentially incredible new musical isn’t quite sure who it is yet. It wavers a bit between parody and serious musical and everything in between… a more solid commitment to genre would really make this show stand out in the crowd, really make it pop! My vote would be to brand this as a big Broadway style musical, laced with dark comedy for a punch. Lose the parody stuff, this show is much more than that! OR go parody if that’s what the writers are really going for, but then go a thousand times more with it. Either way, more definition of genre could really push this brand new show towards becoming a truly exciting and effectively entertaining piece of great theatre.
My overall impression
Really solid production of a new musical that hasn’t entirely found it’s footing yet but is off to a really strong start in its world premiere!! Absolutely worth checking out for the outstanding performances and direction, great original music, fun venue (yay Three Clubs!), dazzling costumes and in my opinion what is just a preview to a new musical that is going to go far! I look forward to seeing further productions of this as it grows. It’s a show to look out for, congrats Noir team!
