The video clips, the simple staging, the bracingly honest and spare writing, the intimacy, the wordplay.
What I didn't like
I couldn’t believe that the house wasn’t full. What a treat. How could theatergoers and movie lovers and television watchers pass up the chance to see this guy work live? And at the age of 88!
My overall impression
How could anyone not be moved by the privilege of watching a national treasure like octogenarian wonder Paul Dooley onstage baring his soul and making an audience laugh? The video clips of his career, particularly his early commercials, were a revelation. So much comedy, so much humanity, so much honesty.
