My overall impression

Where do I begin? The script by Carla Neuss is a gutsy, well-crafted, and funny/sad exploration of one woman’s journey to remain a virgin until she finally marries The One. The smart and simple direction by Payden Ackerman connects the audience to the show in a much more emotionally connected way than most fourth-wall-breaking shows. This, of course, is largely due to the great performances of the two actors. Josh Bross does fantastic work as NUMEROUS characters, all quite different and, more importantly, all extremely grounded and real.

And then there’s Katelyn Schiller. I fell head over heels for Katelyn Schiller when she changed the way I looked at theater in last year’s MURDER BLOOD BEAR. And, personal connection to review here, she is one of the most loving and creative people I’ve met, like, ever. But that’s not a review of her work. This is: with this performance, Katelyn Schiller has taken the place as my favorite actress to watch in anything. This is mainly because she’s never acting. There’s not a moment of pretense in her work – everything is so incredibly raw and real that you believe every word she says. It leaves you wondering how much is the character on a page and how much is simply Katelyn saying what she feels in the moment.

Short version: GO. SEE. THIS. IMMEDIATELY.
