Taming Of The Show

The show more closely resembles musical theatre than Shakespeare. In fact, there isn’t any semblance of the Taming of the Shrew story at all so I wonder if this version of the play, originally staged at a college more than 15 years ago, hasn’t been drastically rewritten. It has a collection of humorous characters involved in the typical theatrical drama of putting on a play: a self-centered star, down-to-earth leading lady, romantic underdog, crazed but comically-brilliant director, and assorted others who capture the rehearsal-like feel of the piece.
