What I liked

I loved this show, I am a lover of Dark and emotionally heavy dramas, and Luminous is a fantastic example of why they have such a special place in my heart. The script does a phenomenal job of making you feel deeply for the characters, I was so connected to them that I felt so invested as to what their fate would be. The dialogue always felt very natural, and I often found the characters said what I would have said in those scenarios. For a fringe show, the space was used extremely well, and there was some beautiful uses of lighting, particularly in creating the effect of the luminous stars in the sky.

What I didn't like

There really wasn’t anything I disliked, my only question was that I was a tad confused on what the characters ages were supposed to be, I got the impression they were young adults, and if so the actors playing the roles seemed a bit and more mature than that.

My overall impression

Please go and see this play, I absolutely promise you that you will find yourself deeply caring about the characters. Luminous is one of those rare original works that has writing that rivals the great professional and famous playwrights of our time. It can be risky to do a heavy drama like this play for the Fringe Festival, due to it’s fast-paced, energy-filled nature, but the reward is well-worth the risk with this play. Luminous is so masterfully Written, Directed, and Acted, it was beautiful experience and I’m so grateful I got to see this play, I have great expectations for it in the future, I’d love to see it being sold at Samuel French soon.
