What I liked

If you don’t know about this little bit of US history, it’s worth a day of research. “Protecting the children” has always been an excuse for all kinds of restrictions and imposition but this particular little bit of political buffoonery had all the makings of a great piece of theater. I’m glad PORN ROCK is here, taking a swing at it. Dee Snider, John Denver, and Frank Zappa all make appearances in this nutty congressional sideshow. Without much augmentation, the transcripts speak for themselves. PLUS! Live guitars from Warrant guitarist Rick Steier!

What I didn't like

Sometimes I wanted a clear distinction between what is actual record and what is augmented. And since the whole thing was crazy, I found myself wondering which parts were real and which weren’t.

My overall impression

There are some great performances, hilarious moments, and seriously disturbing bits as well. Not only do we experience the foolishness of governmental attempts to legislate behavior, we also get a good dose of the content these misguided mothers were attempting to address.
