Johanna is a beautifully expressive dancer. Her performance is almost shockingly vulnerable and honest while lyrical at the same time. (Also: hospital bracelets!)
What I didn't like
I struggled a little bit with the mystery and the disjointedness of the piece. I see how that disorientation reflects the mess left after a trauma – and that feels very truthful emotionally. But for cohesion of the piece, I think there was room for a little more connective tissue between the chapters.
My overall impression
This piece is a raw yet lyrical exploration of the effects of a personal traumatic event. From the bold comedic interactive scenes to the frighteningly tragic personal scenes, Johanna’s intense fragility champions this brave, non-literal journey.
