I so enjoyed Aurora and Larry. Jen’s stage presence is very warm and inviting and she’s come up with a rich, creative story that has something for everyone. Her use of music (particularly her rap!) is really fun and works so well with the story. Jen transitions from Aurora to Polaris/Larry seamlessly, often with just a hunch of her shoulders. Would absolutely recommend. ... full review

The very talented Jennifer Kenyon is gentle, warm and radiant, with a sense of childlike wonder, in her portrayal of Aurora (as a little girl and adult), a hippy, flower child, and seeker of peace, love and freedom. She and her brother, Polaris (AKA "Larry"), also performed by Kenyon, were raised by dysfunctional parents in a commune, many of whose members claim to be in contact with extraterrestrials. But Aurora, who is all-too-human, appears rather "spacey" herself, with at least one foot planted in an alternative universe. In the end, however, she is simply trying to figure it all out - just like the rest of us! Throw in a little ukulele playing and some fan dancing (with beautiful lighting effects!) for a bit of flair! Highly recommend!... full review

This show is both universal and completely personal. It took me on a journey through Aurora and Polaris's life that was both new and unknown while at the same time feeling familiar and relevant in my own life. The audience is in capable hands with Jen Kenyon, an artist with true vision, a compassionate heart, and superb skill as a performer and writer. ... full review

Aurora & Larry is not splashy and garish. It doesn't pull any of the usual Fringe-y tricks to grab your attention. It is a carefully constructed narrative that gently unfolds before you like the petals of a flower.... full review

Jennifer Kenyon scored a success at last year’s fringe with her one-woman show about triplet vaudevillians (The Last Known Recording of The Lovely Lenore Sisters). This year she again explores the murky territory of sibling relationships with “Aurora and Larry”. The show starts with a welcoming-of-the-sun ritual dance and the twirling of colored silks. Aurora is a woman who is trying to make sense of her life. She and her brother were raised in a hippie commune by their serial deserter father and terminally flaky mother. When their father flees from cops, the rest of the dysfunctional family look for him until the kids are taken into care. “Polaris” (Larry’s full name) rebels against his parents’ rebellion, becoming a crew-cut wannabe sold... full review

Aurora and Larry is a beautiful touching lyrical show and Jennifer Kenyon is a master solo show performer. I found myself transported to another time and immersed in a very real brother sister relationship. Thank you Jennifer for your beautiful work. ... full review

As as a former hippie, I thoroughly enjoyed this walk down memory lane. Jennifer touches on many of the important issues of this era: intentional communities, feminism, the war on drugs, PTSD, and New Age philosophy. Through everything, Aurora and Larry remain connected by the bonds of love that ultimately unite brother and sister. This is a sweet and sometimes harrowing story told with imagination and humor.... full review
