What I liked
The writing by Charlotte Dean is terrific: deeply funny, always specific, satirical while never entirely departing from real. And the superb writing is embodied by a diverse and energetic troupe of uniformly talented performers … including assorted Groundlings and others.
From the first sketch (a breakup letter from a gay man to his partner over his lack of survival skills) to the last (a romance novel for men called “Who’s Booty is That?”), you are treated to fresh, surprising, often razor sharp depictions of human folly and the little daily tortures we inflict on each other and ourselves.
Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be the “Shortest Giraffe”? Or to be married to a white guy on “Martin Luther King Day”? Or to get maybe just a little too racy in your “Senior Writing Class”? Charlotte has … and the results of these and other if your spouse’s corpse to stay alive? Charlotte has. And the results are on display now in a warm, clever, evening in the theater that you won’t want to miss!
What I didn't like
Charlotte’s Shorts were/was too short! I would have liked a full evening of these extremely well-written and acted character sketches.
My overall impression
Hilarious! You’ll laugh … you’ll cry (from laughing so hard … and you’ll be touched by the human pageant onstage. A sharp, funny, observant evening of very human vignettes from a stable of wonderful performers. Don’t miss this show!
