My overall impression

When stupidity is done well, you have ANGEL’S FLIGHT. The show pays off immediately with the dynamic movie style opening credits. From there there’s nothing to do but be rewarded with sultry sounds, dancing legs, and bad jokes (that are the best jokes). And you’ll be in on the joke for the whole ride, but just in case you get lost in the world too much, they’ll break down that 4th wall with a devilish grin. This show brilliantly puts to use (and makes fun of) some of my favorite theatre mechanisms – I love a darn good scored car scene. This is a funny and highly stylized Detective Noir from the writing, to the character commitment, to the staging and lighting. It was a real treat to see the Cherry Poppins girls take on this genre, swarming around an LA Detective, who delivers self-reflective verboseness perfectly. Director Matt Ritchey took a small stage with a lot of actors and burlesque girls and transformed it into a high-octane, action-packed, cinematic, beauty of a Fringe show. Welcome to the City Of Angels.
