My overall impression

As a touring solo artist, teacher and director for over a decade, I know firsthand how much work the solo arts can be. While it may just be one person up on that stage, it takes a team of people to tell one’s story well. The Hollywood Fringe panel tonight did an excellent job of cultivating a safe space to discuss ALL that goes into creating a 1 person play. I was able to commune with other solo artists and expand our thriving solo arts community here in LA. We’re out there, we just need events like these to find one another! Solo theatre can become very lonely and strenuous if you don’t surround yourself with the support of likeminded creators, and that’s why I also passionately do what I can to create a solo theatre community with the generous help of the Whitefire Theatre in Sherman Oaks who warmly open their doors to my FREE Solo Theatre Class! It’s the most amazing space to just come play and connect with other artists. I am so excited that the Fringe provides a space for my students to take their creations to the next level and realize their dreams in front of audiences. The more solo artists come together to share their stories, skills, and support, the more solidarity we will all feel in this beautifully unique genre of Solo Theatre.
