Only Mom

Only Mom is based on a song the playwright wrote for his mother after having been estranged from her for most of his adult life.
His mother has written letters to him over the years, that he is not able to respond to.
Much of the scene takes place in his psychiatrists office, reviewing his life in the Tuberculosis Sanitarium as a child, in the bars of his small town as a young adult, among other situations that are also played out with songs from Mr. Bastien’s song repertoire. Song like Midnight Thoughts, Sad Laugh, Carnival of Life and Only Mom, help him understand how much his own mother had to go through, as well as how much pain mothers in general have to deal with while raising their children.
Laugh, cry and enjoy the growth of a person from a boy to a man who realizes that maturity begins with forgiveness.
