FUGITIVE SONGS

The level of talent on this show really makes it worth the trek out to Three Clubs. All of the cast brought it vocally and emotionally and made this song cycle a unique musical experience. ... full review

I saw Fugitive Songs on opening night. The show was terrific. I would highly recommend it. It is a story of six young people, each one on a journey, as told through songs. It is fast paced, and you experience a wide range of emotions as you watch and listen. The actors are right out there in front of you; they make excellent use of the "theater", so close you can touch them. The cast did an excellent job creating characters that you can identify with; you will laugh and you will cry. Each actor was unique and talented. They all had amazing voices. It is quite obvious that an incredible amount of work went into this production. If you see only one show during the Fringe, make it this one!... full review

Really fantastic show with an incredibly talented group of singers who pulled off some very difficult music and harmonies perfectly. I got goosebumps more than once. Definitely go see this show!... full review

There are some immensely talented actor/singers in this production. Reagan Osborne has a gorgeously effortless voice and infuses his performance with wit and verve. Katy Harvey lights up the stage whenever she enters and delivers a song with a voice like warm honey. Michael Noah Levine has fine comic timing and good pipes. A caveat: this is more of an emotional tone poem monologue concert than a musical. There is little character interaction or narrative through-line. The one instance of a truly life changing event with potential for catastrophic fallout for our favorite druggie in the rousing Wilson is never mentioned again. Fugitive Songs is less about lawbreakers than about the need to escape—to discover new horizons. The restless fugitives in Chris Miller (music) and Nathan Tyson’s (lyrics) song cycle feel trapped. They are ready to say farewell to loser boyfriends, dead end jobs, general malaise, or the realization that life in Washington Heights has become too comfortable.
