My overall impression

Ok, let’s get the elephant out of the room. Yes, this play is about suicide. And, yes, it’s funny. Very funny. If there is no way for you to not be deeply offended by this I won’t try to talk you into seeing the show. But for everyone else…

This piece is very well done. Penny Pollak slips into and out of the 1/2 dozen or so characters she portrays in this one-person show, effortlessly. Granted, the technical support (lights, sound, and prop design) support her quite well in this, but that only adds to the overall quality of the presentation and takes nothing away from her performance.

Each woman played by Ms. Pollak is in a rough spot and wrestles with whether it’s worth it to keep struggling. Unfortunately almost all of us know what that is like at least to a limited degree. But these are people, not caricatures, and their struggles feel real, and their choices matter.

It can be tough to watch during some moments, as theatre that goes this far ought to be tough. Take the journey, not despite the difficulty, but because of it.
