My overall impression
I know and love this unforgettable and wrenching play that shows the universal and unique experiences of war. As a Vietnam vet’s daughter, I am drawn to the unusually creative and lyrical yet visceral depiction of the soldier’s experience of Vietnam, from boot camp to coming home and beyond. This production surpasses any I’ve seen or been involved in- and the young men who bring these characters to life are indelible and spot-on. The eight actors claim the stage with depth, authenticity and camaraderie, without a false note among them. From the honest and subtle direction to the superior set, light and sound design, this production delivers and then some. Truly one of the strongest pieces you will find on the fringe front, or anywhere. The final scene is gut churning and unforgettable- but you’ll find that every scene stays with you and creates its own “tracers” in your mind and heart. And the music is the best!!
