Announcing the Triumphant… Marvelous… Colossal… Stupendous… Enormous… even…Ginormous NEW SHOW from Rabbits2u for the 2015 Hollywood Fringe Festival:
A WONDERFUL DAY WITH STUART WALKER.
Returning for their 3rd straight year, those crazy Rabbits bring you not one, but TWO Family Friendly Shows in one wonderful day (Yes, you can even bring Mom & Dad with you to these performances)!
Both 1-acts were written by early 20th Century Playwright Stuart Walker and were performed by his traveling Portmanteau company. Walker believed in theatre for all ages, though this did not prevent him from exploring dark themes and territories often disregarded in the world of children’s performance. Rabbits2U is excited to take on this challenge!
The first, “The Birthday of the Infanta,” is inspired by a real life Princess, her Portrait, and a Prose Piece by the enigmatic poet and writer Oscar Wilde. The play begins in the ostentatious world of the noble classes. We watch as our young Infanta struggles between her upper-class obligations, (which have made her spoiled and rotten) and her desires for a more ordinary childhood. Even on her own birthday, she feels trapped and like “a wooden body,” a puppet to her Aunt and Chamberlain and the needs of her constituents. Will our Infanta retain her childhood innocence or be spoiled beyond repair?
The second play for your viewing enjoyment is, “Six Who Pass While the Lentils Boil,” the story of a little boy who must learn how to balance Responsibility with Play Time. Bestowed with the task of watching a pot of lentils cook while his mother is away, the boy is given multiple opportunities by passersby to leave his commitments behind and join them on their wacky adventures. Will he keep his promises and stay true to his word, or will his temptations get the best of him?
So…Come one, Come all! Both shows are directed by Brian Allman, who holds an MFA in theatre from UCLA and has been seen in numerous productions throughout the LA area. There will be plenty of Comedy (Ha-ha!)…Drama (Ohhh!), & Mountebacks (Huh?). Please join us this June for a family-filled, day of dancing, singing, improvisation and fun!
