My overall impression

In the wake of the teen-age pool party incident in Texas, nothing could be more relevant than Anna, In The Darkness. Rebecca Lincoln’s stellar performance helped lend an emphatic, up close and personal ear into the mind of a tortured soul. On one side, it’s absolutely heinous to see how such awful acts of humanity are so blindly justified by misplaced ideals of status quo or distorted religious convictions. On the other side, it was a pure delight to see, feel and taste the torment through the mind of someone who is losing theirs through the constant barrage of haunting threats by the people in her community. Or could it be just voices in her head? You’ll have to come see the show and make up your mind.

The small intimate, exposed brick space was the perfect setting for Anna’s world. Amanda Weier was a pure Rembrandt in the direction of this work. Jeffrey Porter’s near final square framing was spot on to punctuate the closing in feeling of Anna’s surrounding. You, simply, can’t get any better in the sound design department than Marc McClain Wilson. His spooky voices and sound bits sent chills down your spine and made the hair on your arms stand on end.

If you have ever been bullied in your life (I have) or been the bully, then you NEED to see this show.
