My overall impression
For over a year I’ve waited to see Ben Moroski in action. I’d heard rave reviews of his previous solo show, so when I heard about THE WAKE, I knew I couldn’t miss it. I expected Ben to be engaging – he was. I expected the show to surprise me – it did. What I didn’t expect was to find myself slipping into the reality of a character that I never would have thought I could relate to. In the intimate space of the Elephant Studio, Ben’s character tells the audience that’s he found something “unconditional,” and that he hopes we can find something like that in our lives. Something rare, something inexplicable, something real. After seeing THE WAKE, I felt that I had found exactly that.
