Alfred is a playwright in declining health, whose devilish inner voice, Anima, is intent on him completing his work, even to his own demise. Having recently lost his wife to another man, Alfred has begun a downward spiral of alcoholism, drug addiction, and self-loathing, all of which are preventing him from writing. As he spins further into isolation and illness, the figures in his real life begin to merge with the characters in his play, resulting in hilarious misunderstandings and dark surrealist twists. Will he be able to finish his play, or will he succumb to his heartache and drown in own despair?
