That Old Black Magic

I laughed so much during this show. Two excellent performances, a clever script, and sharply directed. I'm definitely going to recommend it. I know it's a work in progress, and I'd like to keep up with it. I hope that someone throws some money at this project, because I'd love to see what they do with a budget. In particular, I'd love to see more of both of the characters' acts. In terms of constructive feedback (I've got a work in development here at the Fringe as well, so I'm trying to give the kind of criticism that I'd want to receive) - it took me about ten minutes to realize that this is a period piece. There is an awful lot to say about this show and I'm so glad I saw it. It was not the history as much as these characters that I can't get out of my mind. (Although I learned a lot about segregated Vegas) I guess I feel that I myself ping eternally between the worlds of Sweet Bojanski Brown and The Amazing Daisy (the Amusing Daisy). Like many of us, these two characters are trying to make their marks as artists. Their personalities are at the opposite end of the spectrum. The memory that sticks with me most is when Sweet Bojanski Brown rambles on about her impossible dreams of success, her mouth running amok - she gets this beatific glow on her face that is almost religious.
