THE FANTASTICKS - the original fringe musical (1959)

I have seen many productions of, The Fantasticks, and this one was one of the best. Full of sweetness, comic charm, and well crafted poignancy, this "Good People's" offering was everything this lovely show should be, and allowed the audience to be swept up in the romantic haze--and the clear eyed reality, this show so beautifully embraces. Each actor was perfectly cast, and the musical direction--(and the harp!),was spot on--and wonderfully playful. Every aspect of this production was excellent, and I applaud the director for creating such an enchanting piece of theatre. Well done.... full review

It's unusual and highly complimentary for a show to be "held-over", so what can you say about a show that had a 42 year run?......Simple, sincere and timeless, re-visiting this "old acquaintance" is a joy, however many times you may have seen it before. ... full review

While I admit some of the voices are poor AND poorly projected,there are sterling performances from the supporting cast. Musical Theater aficionados better avoid this one, but those who have never seen it before will get the musical's charms and wistfulness, even if they won't hear the greatest renditions of the songs (and the harp is an extra added bonus).... full review

Wonderful reproduction of the original, that plucks the heart strings. The cast is uneven, but the directing is sure. Janet Miller, the actors that play the fathers and the older player, and the musicians deserve huge applause. This is a lot of fun.... full review

LOVED it. I saw a production of The Fantasticks many years ago, was brought up with the music.....this production was fabulous. It could rival the original (off Broadway) production, especially noteworthy for a local theater group- outstanding.... full review

Good People Theatre Company's production of THE FANTASTICKS is a magnificently dulcet and throughly enjoyable musical experience. Janet Miller's finely tuned direction allows the book, music and lyrics to tell the story and follow all the wonderful performance's of the actors. Janet has knack with casting and all the roles are superbly embodied by a wonderful cast. Each actor has truly brought to life their characters and we the audience are left with a soulful experience rounded out with superb musical direction AND A HARP!!!
