LOVED this show. I am not a theater critic but I enjoyed watching this show. After seeing the performance tonight I felt moved by the each of the character's story and their need to belong to something greater than themselves. It was comedic, timely and well written. I felt transported by to an era my parents talk about all the time. This is a must see.... full review

I enjoyed this show a lot and have to say it was refreshing to see progressive theater here in LA. I thought both actors were really good and had my attention from the time the house lights went down. I will say that I left the theater wanting more from the playwright. Kudos to you for putting pen to paper and putting your work out there for the public. ... full review

I LOVE THIS SHOW! Love Me Richie is a nuanced, superbly crafted play. I love the burlesque element that appears in the show and that the play examines a fading dancer and an aspiring war hero during World War II. Both people display a huge desire to become part of the American fabric but are denied that opportunity due to Jim Crow Laws and personal demons. The play is well crafted by Kenyetta Letheridge and superbly acted by Maryam Myika Day and Michael Ralph. I just love this show! They all do a fine job of transporting us back to the 40's so we can take a glimpse of this often times unexamined lives. ... full review

I saw this show on its opening night and I really enjoyed it. It's set in 1945 and is essentially a love story...with a twist. It's a pretty short show (30 minutes or so) with just two actors (who are AMAZING) and it definitely left me wanting more. I didn't know anything about the show or the actors before seeing it, but I'm really glad I gave it a chance. ... full review

This was a great show and I highly recommend it to all!! With the back drop set in the 1940s (I'm a World War II buff) and the powerful love story, the actors did an amazing job conveying the choices (sometimes good and sometimes bad) that many couples face even today on choosing your family or your hopes and dreams. This show left me wanting more and I hope the playwright makes this into a full production!! ... full review

What can I say, it's the best show I never saw. I wish I had an extra special selection option in the left-hand module of this review form for this show. I rolled up to Open Fist Wednesday evening, hoping I could drop into a random show at a random time, in the very sprit of Fringe, and the cast never arrived! I purchased a ticket, and subsequently got a refund. Perhaps this no show is a HFF first, but it begs the question: would you rather perform to an empty house or not at all? ... full review

"You got me at '1945'"! I, too, love period pieces, so I was very happy with this story taking place during that time and exploring themes in a way that we don't often see (mental illness and the African-American perspective or voice on Patriotism). I would love to see more from this story, it's characters and it's journey. I left the theater with a lot of questions that kept me thinking about the play long after I left. I was enchanted with the mystery of it, with the questions of "what if she...?", "when did they...", "what happened when...". I truly enjoyed the writing, acting and the directing. I'm excited to see what Maryam's (writer) next incarnation of this piece will take...if not for the sole reason of seeing her character El... full review

I really enjoyed this show and the actors in it. They were so easy to watch and their characters were intriguing. I love when I am waiting to see development of a story and every step of the way I was invested in seeing the next steps that these characters would take. I love that they were able to make me feel as if I was in that particular time period with ease. I think Maryam has written a well crafted piece that I know we will see again soon! These are characters you have to see again! Great writing, great acting, Great Job!... full review
