Keena is undoubtedly talented. She is a beautiful dancer and a passionate actor. That said, the material in the show felt like anecdotes strung together haphazardly. This lack attention to story or at least unifying theme of the piece left me feeling confused about why she was doing and saying what she was doing and saying (other than as a showcase). It really did a disservice to some of the more serious parts of the show. For example, (spoiler alert) she shared her obviously excruciating pain of losing a loved one, but as an audience it was the first we'd heard of this person. A little work with a dramaturg would have lifted this show from uneven and allowed the audience to go with her on a journey.... full review

'Keena: Unbranded (The Solo Experience)' was truly a great piece of art! This is a show I'd recommend anyone to see and would happily see again. Keena brought over 10 amazingly distinctive characters to life (male and female) right before our eyes, without one change of costume, baring her soul in a captivating story that expertly weaved together the essence of who she is. With great acting and immense physicality, Keena took us on a journey thru sexual experiences, Laker Girl try-outs, the death of a family member, the Hollywood shuffle, abortion and much more. She punctuated her piece with expressive moments of interpretive dance, which she executed with trained skill and grace. After we'd laughed, sighed, shook our heads and cried, the pi... full review

I am a writer, director, producer and an actor. I grew up in entertainment and spent the majority of my childhood either in plays or watching them. I say all of that to say that I can be a harsh critic at times. With that being said, Keena Unbranded is excellence in theater. I've seen the show twice and both times I was beyond pleased. She is fearless as she takes you through her story. Her delivery is so powerful that her story becomes your story. What she doesn't say in words, she forces you to FEEL in her beautiful dance interpretations. Its rare that an artist can entertain, inspire and capture all in one. She seemlessly flows through scenarios and situations and you can only hold on for the ride/experience. Whether you're losing your vi... full review

Last night I went to see Keena Ferguson in her one woman show KEENA UNBRANDED. I tell you what, the show is phenomenal! The show grabs you from the beginning. In a very creative way she tells us what she is going to tell us. Then she tells the story - not always just using her words, Keena beautifully uses her body to convey emotion no words could. The various ways music is infused adds dimension to keep the audience engaged throughout her journey. Then there's the actual story. I have respect for anyone who can write an engaging story, but I have mad crazy respect for Keena telling such an excellent story that is so extremely personal. As I sat there watching and listening to her I could only think how cathartic it had to be to ... full review

What a Show! What a Performance! Facts: You have that "IT" thang happening...You are compelling on stage...ppl can't take there eyes off of you. The Direction was captivating, intriguing and fluid (seemless). Your Characters and their energy were full of life and easy to follow. I was engrossed. Your Dancing is off the Charts!!! (I would love to see your show with a Saxophone).... Good writing..... I'd like to experience more of Grandpa (the soul of the piece). Loved the Restaurant scene.... Would love to feel your mother in the piece more. Overall... Loved the show.... full review

Does it matter that I've known Keena for several years and have worked with her professionally? Yes. When artists take a risk, such as Keena Ferguson has done with her one-woman show debut, "Keena: Unbranded", it's important to take note. It's even more important to do so when it is a friend. Ms. Ferguson covertly brands herself as a woman, as an actor, who still believes in Fairy Tales. She explains this through several courageously acted characters and vignettes, well-directed by the talented Tanya Alexander. These vignettes range from the poignant ("You've never seen anyone have sex before?"); to the funny ("Who do you think you are/meet me on the playground"); to the brave ("Mommy, don't go in there"). Along with powerful da... full review

My Mother and I went today!!!! We were captured from the moment Keena stepped on stage until she walked off.... And even then we wanted more!!! It was such a beautiful piece. Her story was familiar yet hers.... And she told it in a way that was either fun or funny or clever or moving....or.... She just kept us interested!!! Somehow she made it possible for us to see 'ourselves' in her story while still being there with 'her'!!!! The characters were humorous and complete!!!!! I felt like I knew many of them!!!! I SAW them through Keena!!! And her transitions were BEAUTIFUL EXPRESSIONS using her body and the stage and everything!!!! It flowed!!!!! I FELT what she was saying as she moved her body!!!!! That girl can REALLY DANCE!!!!!!... full review
