My overall impression
Very engaging show! To begin with, Steven Kates is a warm personality, and he immediately and consistently drew us into a world most of us know little about.
I could easily see the show expanded to twice its length with an intermission. His insights and experience created a curiosity for that.
It’s worth adding that I was apprehensive about the subject matter before going. But I was spared being faced with the more disturbing aspects of this notorious industry in this performance. That said, it would not be at all inappropriate for those aspects to get their due in an alternate version of the piece. This seemed the PG-13 to R version and a XX/NC-17 version could also exist.
My understanding is that this production, like all one-person shows, is a work in progress. I would go again to watch how this story develops.
