This is not your typical courtroom drama - yes, it happens in a courtroom and yes, it is a drama, of sorts. What separates this production is the physicality of the show - sound effects, spontaneous tango dances, excellent use of the sparse set. If you're bored with the straight dramas, then check out this show for something different. A great effort. Check out my review on examiner.com for more details.... full review

Fierce Backbone wasn’t shy last year at another Fringe debut: seven (eight?) shows in multiple different venues. For a producing company created “to support the work our membership is inspired to create,” that first leap showed its audiences a wide range of new plays. It was a bold move that paid off from this audience member’s point-of-view: I’m game to try most anything they produce. Their latest offering is The Beating by Mona Deutsch Miller. The piece does not offer much beyond our first glances int... full review

This was a brilliant interpretation of the criminal trial process. As a lawyer, it was exceptionally enlightening to see the adversarial tone between prosecution and defense depicted as a flamenco dance. I've never thought of the interplay like that, but it is so spot on!! Also the "jury instructions" were a hoot, no wonder why real jurors get so flustered. I loved every second in this artfully carved piece. Thank you very much! ... full review

The Beating is great theater. Certain experiences are unique to the theater and cannot be replicated on film. The Beating is one of those: theater of the absurd at its best. If you've ever served on a jury or questioned the efficiency and effectiveness of our justice system, The Beating is a must see.... full review

This was such a different play than anything I've seen before. It was darkly funny, as promised, but also beautifully choreographed. The playwright, actors and director managed to make you feel as if the witness and all of the defendants were there, and the jurors really captured the feelings one has sitting on jury duty. Congratulations!... full review

A game cast cannot save an inane script- an "absurd comedy" about child abuse which is about as funny as you'd imagine. http://fringeblog.webs.com/... full review
