My overall impression

Third Date had a lot of potential to be a cute, witty and fun one-act. There was the all-too familiar setting of an awkward romantic encounter, the sitcom style living room set up and I thought to myself, cool, this will be a short and sweet evening of light entertainment. Well, I wish I could say I was entertained… The dialogue was like a bad episode of Friends, and I’m not even a Friends fan, and played entirely on stereotypes without saying anything new. I couldn’t tell if the conflict was that the two characters were so nervous because they really liked each other or if they were so uncomfortable because they really didn’t. I feel like that’s the one thing that should be clear. I did enjoy Rebecca Mader’s performance. You could tell she was having a lot of fun with the role and therefore fun to watch.
