I laughed til my head hurt! Far better than the movie, THE BABY, which I enjoyed. Every little detail was well-conceived. The outfits and the music were awesome with a very lurid, 70's grindhouse feel. Most of all, the entire cast was excellent! Bravo! Dan Spurgeon's swift and silly script manages to be faithful enough to the original melodrama shocker and yet successfully spoof it as well. Lead Jana Wimer is appropriately kind and kooky, Cloie Wyatt Taylor and Natasha Charles Parker are wacky and wanton as trailer-trashy sisters, Torrey Halverson is adorable and hilarious as the Baby...and Frank Blocker as Mama is a mammoth "Mommie Dearest" monster. Pitch-perfect black comedy that unfolds at breakneck speed. The cast takes it right to the edge. Kudos to Frank Blocker as demented fashion plate "Mama Wadsworth," Natasha Charles Parker and Cloie Wyatt Taylor as her nutty daughters, Jana Wimer as their bewildered social worker, and a particularly committed Torrey Halverson as Baby. This show is chock full of awesomeness! Fans of '70s B-movies and drive-in exploitation flicks will love this play! The entire cast is great, playing everything with a nod and a wink, completely over the top but still very deliberate. The story moves swiftly, and keeps the laughs coming a mile a minute. Extra kudos to the actor playing "Mama" and his dozen different costumes (there must be a different one every scene), with each one more outlandish than the last. Go see this one!... full review

That was certainly the most original and weird experience I've had at the fringe thus far. Divine camp - that's what it is. It's not even the outrageous moments where the show pays off (the babysitter breast-feed rape or the bloody finale), it's in the ever-outrageous presentation of every single line and beat that makes this show a bit of a monster… The stage design just like the performances. Are equivalent to technicolor vomit that does not let up for the full hour in 25 minutes. Of course this show could have been shorter and I think it would benefit from some edits but overall every performer brought lightning to the bottle and brought the bottle to The Baby. If you want to have great fun, laugh and scream a lot, THE BABY is for you!!! Very fun, over the top 70's characters that are amazing in a sick and twisted story. Look out for Frank Blocker, Natasha Charles Parker and Jonica Patella!!! Everyone is wonderful but those are my absolute faves. Going to see Frank Blocker in his one person play called STABILIZED NOT CONTROLLED. First saw him in DEEP THROAT SEX SCANDAL, then SOUTHERN GOTHIC NOVEL. Can't wait till Los Angeles figures out what he can do - everything!! He and the show are awesome!... full review

What a hoot! B movie turned high camp by an excellent ensemble and masterful director/writer. There are too many laugh out loud moments to relate here, but I highly recommend this dark and delightful traumatic comedy told to the soundtrack of the 70's. If you'd like to see what would happen if Fiip Wilson, John Waters, and Rod Serling staged a melodrama farce in 1975, this is it. A twisted tale told in a twisted way by a twisted ensemble. And they love every minute of it. So will you. Fantastic. I'm still laughing at many of the delicious moments in it a week later! Frank Blocker led a well cast ensemble with his commanding performance as a mother anyone would loath to disobey. Natasha Charles Parker was suitably sleazy and caught the London pop mood of the late 60s/early 70s. Hilarious costume design by Erica D. Schwartz. Maison Leigh was funny as the ready to punch you out, not too bright sibling. ( Starving Hollywood actresses take note of her Bio) Jana Wimer was a delight to watch as the innocent social worker w/ secrets of her own. I thoroughly enjoyed Devin Sullivan as the nerdy swinger. He plays the airhead, testosterone driven boy/man with a gusto that made every woman in the audience shutter. Baby Cody Bushee is so committed you'll want to throw him a teddy bear.
