There is no getting around that Lisa Cole is immensely likeable. Perhaps you’d expect a tale of a Midwest (Detroit area) upbringing and accompanying remnants of a regional twang to off-put, but the groundedness of her performance and sincere emotional notes makes for fully formed characters as opposed to caricature. I can see this 40 minutes easily being fleshed out further in segments for more seamless transitions, and simply for just more information about such a unique life journey. I definitely wanted more Lisa Cole when the all-too-brief 40 minutes was up.
