I already knew that I wanted to see the fan-favorite (Best One Person Show) from 2012 Fringe, “Texas Love Lyla.” Upon her haggard entrance in the drag queen’s version of a fright wig, a wig in curlers, it is not long before we realize Lyla not only will bring us into her backyard, she’ll bring us into her heart. Looking like a Hollywood stylist put her together, Lyla doles out sage advice for her live streaming and radio followers from a well made indoor outdoors (sets by the creative and crafty Bill Cole.) You can immediately feel the sincerity within her jovial demeanor, quick wit and master of the modern ba-doom ching! I loved, loved, loved how far this one show has come from being an award winning play last year. Jeff Wylie has taken the play into new richer territory, fine tuning every moment into an emotional roller coaster of laughter and tears. If you thought you had seen it before, see it again and see how much Lyla has grown. Bravo Lyla. I can't wait to see where you're heading next. Don't miss Texas Loves Lyla. the show started and i was thinking, well, here we are. but as it went on i found myself being swept away in this womans backyard show. this show has heart and a wonderful loving performance by jeffrey wylie... full review

This was a sweet show with a lot of heart. Jeffrey Wylie fully embodies Lyla with genteel southern charm, grace, and verve. One man shows are a difficult formula to pull off entirely successfully -- but I feel that for the most part, this one does. The ending is a little abrupt and the whole thing feels a bit random, but I suppose that's part of its meandering Texas charm. Wylie was terrifically emotionally open and I couldn't help but love Lyla. ... full review

A pure delight from start to finish, Texas Loves Lyla strikes just the right balance of humor and heart. I particularly enjoyed the musical numbers and the few moments when Lyla’s vulnerable side took center stage. Congratulations on an excellent production!... full review
