A great show for theatre and non-theatre lovers! Rati’s lovable essence graced the stage with clever writing, well timed comedic delivery, and a lot of heart!
I think this show particularly hits home for any female child of the 80s who went to high school in the late 90s through the beginning of the turn on the century. I graduated in 2002, and I could relate to the movies/TV Rati juxtaposes with her high school experience.
However, this is not just a chic flick, nor time specific— anyone who went to high school can relate to the awkward transitional moments Rati experienced with social status, love, friendship, parents, and life. My two guy friends- one 26 and one 35 both loved this show- and neither of them knew who Clarissa was or what she could or could not explain!
I loved the decision to add 4-5 comedic videos between transitions. I think it was clever on so many levels! 1) It allows Rati to demonstrate her acting abilities in TV/Film media besides the stage 2) it puts Rati in a TV/Film dynamic which is a running theme in the importance of her teenage growth 3) it allows for Rati to change costumes 4) it tonally adds a different type of comedy
Overall, a great show! Highly recommend it!
