My overall impression

Absolutely fantastic. I kept forgetting they weren’t the original cast. And while Fringe musicals generally have great actors, they often lose something compared to the original in terms of orchestra (or lack of it) and sets (or lack of them). But this show, as designed, totally reveled in its one-scene, one-piano-ness, so the Fringe version had completely everything it needed. I haven’t seen the original, but I imagine if I’d been at opening night, it would have looked a lot like this. I completely loved this production.
