What fun! If you are not musical theater buff, you might miss some of the references, but for me it was perfect. Witty dialogue and lyrics had me laughing out loud throughout the performance. The cast was young, talented and had enough energy burning to light up Hollywood Blvd. The show probably ran about 10-15 minutes too long as they really did not seem to know how to end it. . . but that was kind of the point too.... full review

This was such a solid show. TITLE OF SHOW is one of my favorite musicals and I was so thrilled with this production. It was absolutely hilarious, the singing was beautiful, and the characters were loved throughout. Brilliant work done on that stage. It was so relatable to actors, writers and artists of all kinds in the audience. Thank you for bringing me so much JOY tonight! This is a MUST SEE for everyone, ever. :D ... full review

This is my review of the show. This is an expression of the elation I felt after seeing the show, followed by an urgent recommendation that you go see it for yourself. Not a weak link in the entire production team, from cast to musical director to production/direction. Dynamic cast, sharp wit, and shameless silliness. Frills are for other shows, this one doesn't need any. 4 chairs, a keyboard, and 5 talented people on stage is all they need to knock your socks off.... full review

For a musical theatre buff like myself, seeing [title of show] in a city full of national tours and musical parodies is a breath of fresh air. I must disclaim, though, that being very familiar with the original cast of [tos], the people who inspired and wrote the musical have infiltrated my vision for what this show is supposed to be. My own personal bias aside, you have to applaud this cast for taking on such difficult material that might seem easy and effortless to an untrained ear. Without comparing them at all to their real life counterparts, Chris Maikish and Heather Lake gave stellar performances as Jeff and Heidi, respectively. Their onstage chemistry was sublime, and they made the material sing--even when they were speaking. It ... full review

Absolutely fantastic. I kept forgetting they weren't the original cast. And while Fringe musicals generally have great actors, they often lose something compared to the original in terms of orchestra (or lack of it) and sets (or lack of them). But this show, as *designed*, totally reveled in its one-scene, one-piano-ness, so the Fringe version had completely everything it needed. I haven't seen the original, but I imagine if I'd been at opening night, it would have looked a lot like this. I completely loved this production.... full review

This show was great, simply put. A meta-meta-creation following the perils and parallels of creating a [hit] musical. If you like musicals, comedy, cake, or being a delightful human being: go see this show. If you can't make it to any of the remaining performances, petition Theatre Unleashed to bring it back later this year. They remember laughter. Go. Go now. Go yesterday. When you go see it last week, remind them that I'm still waiting on their recording of the soundtrack. Do that for me. And for you. Because I would. Because we're best friends. That's why I'm here recommending this to you. The third act was kinda http://youtu.be/r8Mz4KjrAIU Still worth it. Worrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrth iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. kthxbai... full review

Wonder what [title of show] is about? It's about writing a musical all the way from inception to theoff broadway parties. It is a smartly written show about four friends - and an accompanist - and how their lives are affected as two guys write a brand new musical for a festival. The cast is great and immediately pull you into to the tale and each member has a moment to shine. The songs are funny when they need to be and seriouswhen it helps the story progress. If you get a chance, see this show.... full review

Only another theatre person knows what any other theatre person really goes through trying to create a life in the theatre; the days of struggle, the nights of doubt, wondering if you'll be able to pay the rent, and wondering if you'll ever get that big break. [title of show] is the story of two musical theatre guys, Hunter (Travis Dixon) and Jeff (Christopher Maikish), who aren't anywhere close to making it but decide to write a musical about writing a musical, starring themselves and their two friends, Heidi (Heather Lake) and Susan (Julia Plostnieks). With a three week deadline to finish the work so they can submit it to the festival, they "start with the seed of an idea / then plant it onto paper / with a Dixon Ticonderoga (yeah, a fa... full review
