This show was fantastic. Well cast, well sung, well directed. So good, in fact, they did the magic thing we all hope for - they made it look easy. The show had a lot of buzz to live up to by the time I saw, and it certainly everything these reviews say it is. Four incredible actors and amazingly talented piano player/music director coming together on stage in a perfect storm of musical theater. It's difficult to even pinpoint, which song or which actor you liked the best because they are so cohesive and the show flies by. I found myself singing several of the songs afterwards. The Directing was perfectly unobtrusive, staging it as simple as the production itself. It was a treat seeing it so intimate, as I feel Broadway type production of this would not be nearly as effective, which is core theme in the piece. I arrived late to this show. However, my point is not that I am "that guy", but rather that there were no seats left and I had to stand. And stand I did. Immediately pulled in by this show, I had absolutely no problem standing there while being incredibly entertained. So what's so good about it? Obviously the show itself is well written, but TU knocked it out of the park. The performances were were excellent: perfect comedic timing, exhaustive commitment to their roles, and beautiful voices. Such harmonies! The direction was spot on fantastic. The choreography was tight but inspired. I just cant say enough good things about this show so I'm going to stop now. The point is, go see it. Go. Title of Show was a very amazing show. It had everything. I laughed, I cried, I laughed about crying in public then cried that I laughed about crying. As a matter of fact, I haven't laughed that much since my parents' divorce trial. What a triumph. I loved the music and the story was cleaver. Good job to all and a shout out to Travis Dixon. Don't worry, you will get to play a straight guy soon I am sure.... full review

This is a tough one. The cast was great--lots of chops, strong singing, excellent chemistry. The production was solid. But the show didn't do it for me and I think it's because the original conceit was to have the writers/collaborators actually perform the show. The audience experience was that of being a part of the show as it developed. They're a Broadway audience sitting in a Broadway theater watching a show about how the show got to Broadway! They're part of the show's journey! Cool! Taken out of context, performed by (really good) hired actors in a small theater in Hollywood...it didn't quite make sense to me and the show didn't hold up. Now if they had tweaked/rewritten the show for these actors and reset it at the Fringe. . .but then ... full review

I am an avid Musical Theatre lover. I have seen many productions of musicals around town. Some I love some I wouldn't go see again. I absolutely loved this show! Not only was it hilarious, but the actors were well trained PLUS they they all had amazing voices! Sometimes this is a hard combo to find in something like the Fringe. It was a well directed, well performed show. I highly recommend it! ... full review

The modest production requirements of [title of show] (“4 chairs… and a keyboard”) and the strong, playful, music theater cast assembled ironically allow this particular Hollywood Fringe show staging of a fringe show about the creation of a fringe show to avoid the negative connotations often associated with a fringe show. In fact, this solid, well-performed [title of show] will easily please those outside the Fringe’s core audience. And what more could a good post-modernist ask for? I'd gladly see it again. I loved every character on stage- talk about "bringing your A game". I was humming the music on the way out. If only more musicals had this much heart. If only... Die, Vampires, Die!... full review
