My overall impression

The following are direct quotes/comments made by Patricia Bellgardt, Kenneth Ellsworth, Ashley Apelzin, Diane Slobodnik, Laura Joseph and Jesus Boelk all of whom previewed LET ME OUT on June 7.

Patricia Bellgardt

I was very impressed with the play and I thought it is sad how some people have to go through difficulties in their lives to be truly themselves and I thought it was a beautiful ending how they all bonded as true friends and started to begin to understand each other more. I thought, it was truly beautiful.

Interviewer: Any comments/critiques regarding the story and cast?

Mrs Bellgardt: They were very good!

Interviewer:: Any particular moments that stand out:?

Mrs Bellgardt: Well, I guess it was more the blending of how the story came together and then at the end, they all became their true selves

It was extremely good, done very well by the players! And I enjoyed it very much!!

Ashley Apelzin

“I really liked it. I mean, as a member of the LGBT community myself, it’s really cool to see work that represents the community as small as it is. Even though, there have been a lot of changes recently made, we are still fighting a big struggle. It’s really cool to see a production that sheds some light on that. "

Interviewer: What is your favorite part of the play?

I like the story of two young gay men meeting each other at party, that’s really powerful and it’s often overlooked….so it’s really cool to see that.

Kenneth Ellsworth

Interviewer: Your thoughts on the play?

“I thought it was great. As a member of the LGBT community, it is really nice to see this generation’s take on LGBT issues. You know the 90’s was a lot more about fighting for acceptance and this generation, I find it very interesting, seeing it being widely accepted but yet with the smaller group of people, ie friends.coming out to them, I found that very impacting.

Interviewer: Any particular part that stands out for you?

Kenneth:

I really like Luke’s scene talking about feeling uncomfortable being the only straight person surrounded by homosexuals and I feel that is something that is faced by our generation so it;s really interesting to see that take on that/

Laura Joseph

Interviewer: May I please have your thoughts on this performance of Let Me Out, comments, critiques, your candor is appreciated.

I really enjoyed it, I thought it was very well written. I loved the ending. That they all came to the realization that they all need to accept each other, remember that they are all friends, that they love each other. They are who they are…

Interviewer: Any particular part that stands out?

Mrs Joseph

I thought the main character, John was fabulous, he was really good, the one who came out. I liked Courtney because she was funny, she added a little light humor to the whole thing.

Interviewer: I guess we all have a Courtney in our lives

Mrs Joseph

It was good to laugh every once in a while when it was so serious

Diane Slobodnik

I thought the whole play was quite amazing, I really did. how it showed how young kids in love , how they grow and they learn more and more about each other, and how everything happens, how they think they have one type bond, but to some people it’s actually quite deluded and not being truthful and in the end of it all, it all came together. And we all learn more..It was really wonderful.

Jesus Boelk

I just saw Let Me Out. I know some of the cast members, they did a really good job.
The best part of the show for me was the monologue, because at the moment
the personalities of the characters all at once showed concern, distress, questioning,
they fell into deep thought…and it was a pretty powerful moment,

Interviewer: Any suggestions for them to improve upon?

Jesus: No, they really did a great job.

Interviewer:Would you recommend this show to others? Are you an actor?

Jesus: Oh no, I am not in the industry at all. But yes Absolutely., I recommend this show. I am coming back with a friend to enjoy it again!
