My overall impression

After watching the original show at CSULB, I was excited to see how it would transition into it’s new space at The Fringe! For the most part, the essence and visual pull of this piece were very much still alive and breathing! One of my favorite elements of this show was the pure, unadulterated commitment of the actors. Each had a clear story, time, and place for them. Even in the midst of chaos, everyone was doing something that was unique and had a special meaning to them. It felt like these were all elements on this beautiful canvas; these little details from the other actors, you would miss them if they weren’t there. There was a lot of yes on that stage. Speaking of staging, I can see the challenges presented to the cast in terms of involving the audience in this new performance space (previously presented in a thrust stage). I feel like we were a part of the story at one point, at another we were just slightly more active observers to the fight. Other than that, this is a piece not to be missed! The visual expression on the stage is so full and wonderful, it’s not just a show, it is an experience – if you want to say yes to it.
