My overall impression

I was disappointed with this show. From the pictures and the description I had high hopes. This show seemed to be nothing more than a series of acting exercises strung together. As an actor, I say, great work! However, the work done in the classroom is a foundation to build on and get inspiration from, not something that necessarily should be shared with an audience. This performance felt masturbatory. The actors knew what was happening, and were having an experience, but the audience was alienated from that experience, not invited to share in it despite the attempts to the contrary. As an audience member I had no idea what was going on, with only a vague idea of what the story line was supposed to be. The movement was beautiful, but with nothing to ground it, it got boring quickly— just a bunch of random movement, from my perspective as a confused audience member. The ensemble seemed to really want audience engagement and participation, but every time they spoke to us it was as a yell, a command. I didn’t feel invited in, just chastised. And then they had the gall to ask us to dance with them for the finale.
