Beautiful Little Fool

Solo Show · eldest daughter productions · Ages 13+ · 30 mins · United States of America

one person show world premiere

The year is 1922 and Zelda Fitzgerald seems to have everything a woman could want. She’s a new mother, a fashion icon, the face of the Roaring 20s, and she’s throwing one of her infamous parties to celebrate the release of her husband, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s newest novel. But behind closed doors, Zelda’s world isn’t as shiny as it initially seems. Our show invites you to spend the evening getting to know the woman behind the madness.

Beautiful Little Fool, written and performed by Grace Olivia Ruble, follows the life of Zelda Fitzgerald, the iconic American flapper and wife of F. Scott Fitzgerald, best known as the author of The Great Gatsby. The show explores Zelda’s tumultuous marriage to Scott, her often overlooked artistic accomplishments and her legacy.

Though this is the story of a woman of the past, the show draws parallels to how patriarchy, motherhood and beauty standards link each generation of women together.
