From the creator of the award-winning, Coke-Free J.A.P. is Fielding Edlow’s latest play, SUGAR DADDY; a one-woman descent into a Mike Tyson-like, 50 round battle with sugar, an inappropriate father and one loving Irishman. A semi-autobiographical show in which the audience is deluged with tales from the Daddy crypt and gold medal olympic binging. Part fantasy, part 98% reality, part shame spiral, Sugar Daddy is the show most people only think in their head. It chronicles in great detail, breaking up with Daddy, frosty cupcakes (not vegan) and learning to stand the sound of your own heartbeat.

Leave it to Fielding Edlow to push the boundaries with jaw dropping humor and clever wit and then completely flip flop moments with heart touching pure honesty. She is a fearless writer and brave performer, a combination that is both refreshing and exciting in the theater.

Pieces that are sheer comedy always feel too lofty, and pieces that are sheer sentiment feel too heavy. But, Fielding's one woman show "Sugar Daddy" is as sweet and sour as the title itself. The unique assemblage of words strung together to describe moments in her life tickled my brain and sucker punched me everytime I tried to guess what was coming next. It's the kind of show you wish you could have the transcripts to so you could quote back every wickedly clever piece of dialogue. I'll keep an eye out for a revival of this too-short run.

It was funny, touching, and real.
Loved it and love would highly recommend it.

In Sugar Daddy Edlow energetically brings you into her world of Upper Eastside angst and with her on a richly explored journey of her sobriety as she travels across the country to LA LA lands. Edlow does this not through intricate sets or even with anyone else on stage. Instead she does it through her gut-wrenchingly funny and at other times painfully honest writing and more importantly her line delivery and a rhythmic hair twisting that you kind of HAVE to see.
Definitely a fun show.

Fielding Eldow is a gifted writer and remarkable story teller. She has put together a compelling narrative and it was very effectively staged...there was not a wasted moment from the time the lights came up to the final bow. It is smart writing and she expects a smart audience, you have to follow he...read more

not to make this about me, but if i didn't love sugar daddy as much as i did, i would never have gone through that whole 'sign in and become a panelist' process. 'sugar daddy' is the kind of show that elevates fringe festivals because it brings all the elements one wishes to see in a DIY theater fest...read more
