The Kindness of Strangers

A touching story with a lot of potential. The play itself is good, and with a little more work, it will be something great. The acting is solid all around, with Elizabeth Rian's Rebecca a charming standout. ... full review

Yet another product of the hit factory that is Sacred Fools' Serial Killers. F'ing brilliant. Loved it. I've never seen the documentary, but now I'm going to (...in August, after I've slept through July). Don't miss this one. ... full review

Shakespeare's Last Night Out (or What? YOU, Will??)

gregory crafts · June 19, 2015 uncertified reviewer
If you had any doubts about him before, Shakespeare's Last Night Out (or What?, You Will??) solidifies Michael Shaw Fisher's place as a Hollywood Fringe institution. In his brilliant one-man show, Fisher chronicles The Bard's last night carousing at the tavern, where he holds court and attempts to claim and solidify his legacy, silencing any doubters about the authorship of his works, before shuffling off his mortal coil. The show, a biography of Shakespeare and chronology of his plays, comes off... full review

Dating: Adults Embracing Failure

Welcome to Los Angeles, guys! This is one hell of an introduction! Dating: Adults Embracing Failure is everything a Fringe show should be: a simply-but-well-staged production that relies on a superb script and a powerhouse cast to deliver an emotional wallop. And boy, does it deliver! Josh and Lindy had me transfixed right from the beginning as they weaved together tales of love and loss, heartbreak and redemption. Do yourself a favor and don't miss this show. You're welcome.... full review

Zip Ties

Reminiscent to Reservoir Dogs in style and spirit, Zip Ties is a solid work-in-progress. I enjoyed myself, and appreciated the production value (exploding squibs aren't something you see on stage every day, especially executed so flawlessly!), but I was a little disappointed that some of the performances seemed incongruous with the nature of the script. Choices that were loud, brash and larger-than-life seemed to go against the vibe of the dialogue and robbed the production of real menace and int... full review

Two Girls One Bard: Romeo & Juliet

A very clever laugh riot that surely has The Bard rolling in his grave. Sean Connery, Prince, and Matthew McConaughey get a send-up alongside Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers in this simply-staged but effective and entertaining farce. Check it out!... full review

The Load-In

If you're a performer, you'll certainly be able to relate to the behind-the-scenes disasters that happen to the Wax Robots right before the biggest, most significant gig they've ever had. If you're not a performer, everything that happens to this band may seem implausible, but it's 100% legit. This shit happens. Maybe not all at once, but it happens, and David Svengalis' play manages to capture all of the magic and mayhem and put it on display just for you. The story is fun, and this production m... full review

This is the second time I've seen Simon's show, and I'm still just as gobsmacked by his illusions as I was the first time. I can't say enough good things about his act, so just go see it. It'll leave you with a sense of wonder.... full review
