My Big Fat Blonde Musical

Beautifully-crafted and professional. Not a single misstep! It's a lovely, extremely funny show about surviving in Hollywood as a "Plus Size" actress, but it never devolves into self-indulgence or "pity-me" mode. Theresa empowers with her amazing personality, talent and charm. Theresa and Bobby McGlynn have written a very clever show that's hilarious, moving and deep. They are very promising song lyricists too and I feel this show must go on to New York. There's never a dull moment. An... full review

The Wheel of Invention

If you want to laugh at some hard-core zaniness, "Wheel of Invention" is your ticket. "Weintraubsylvania" is truly a "Disneyland Gone Bad", esp the second half which is an anamatronic display with an upbeat theme song (a la "It's a Small World") with a tableau that goes so terribly bad as the drama progresses. If you are like me and do not care for "The Happiest Place on Earth" and all that goes with it...this show is for you. ... full review

A(partment 8)

A very Fringey show and immersive theater is the future. But A(partment)8 was too short to be a fully conceived immersive/interactive performance piece. At 10 minutes long, it's great to squeeze in between longer shows; it's inventive and thought-provoking and maybe the start of something bigger. During my 10 minutes in A(partment 8) I always felt I was watching a performance, not "in someone else's skin" so I was never able to completely, emotionally engage. Though to my surprise I was move... full review

Loved the costumes, set and snappy 20s dialogue. But needs a bit more work to fully succeed as the sex farce it's intended to be. Check for discount codes!! ... full review

How to Be A Virgin (in 12 morally ambiguous steps)

Go see and be prepared to laugh and have a great time. Brava to Carla Neuss for her stellar writing and to Katelyn Schiller for her hilarious yet natural and authentic portrayal of "The Virgin". The audience was laughing throughout the entire show. It's just the kind of show that makes you really happy. Maybe a movie is the next step??? Highly recommended!... full review

Nine Dresses: Sex, Death, Fashion

Extremely clever, witty, fun and brave (she wears an amazing undergarment through much of the show). Terrific songs. The dresses Brenda had in her closet but never wore are so great. What I loved about the show is that it was not just the obvious statement about how being a slave to fashion is superficial, but it goes deeper into the meaning of self. Loved it. Las Garcia - BEYOND ENCORE

A deeply personal solo show about three generations of strong, passionate women written and performed by the talented, charismatic, beautiful Gabriela Ortega. She performed with a fury and spirit that was riveting. I couldn't take my eyes off her performance, nor my ears off her storytelling! Recommended.... full review

Girls Together Always

terry anne holzman · June 14, 2016 certified reviewer
I love monologue-based shows and found this piece to be among my favorites. The ensemble was wonderful and Marcie Maxfield describes her reason for writing "Girls Together" as "these stories needed to be set free..." I'm glad she listened to that inner voice...not only has she set them free, but she let them soar...I want to hear more stories from her.... full review

From Como to Homo

Great title for a very Interesting coming of age story by a former child dancer/actor who was "raised to be adorable". Lynne's excellent tap dancing and facility for miming actions as well as interpreting the many characters in her story was impressive. Recommend!... full review
