...or Dare - wherein lies the truth?

Go ahead and try to find more subtle, understated yet powerful acting anywhere at Fringe this year. I'll wait. A deceptively simple, beautiful night of theater. Jenny Ashe especially impresses as she pulls double duty in two different but well crafted one-acts.... full review

MAY 39TH

In a Fringe stuffed with aliens, video games, clowns, acrobats and all sorts of experimental shenanigans (much of it awesome, btw) it was such welcome treat to see two people simply talking to one another in an intimate space, trying desperately to connect. And that is done so well on top of that...outstanding. Well acted, well directed and just plain beautiful. Still, it is Fringe, so you just know something F'd up is going on beneath the surface. Have fun getting your face smacked off when you ... full review

I Died...I Came Back...Whatever.

Holy cow! This is a hurricane in a coffee can. So much energy, wit,and heartbreak jammed into so many well-crafted characters in such a short time. Huge props to Cyanne for this incredible show.... full review

Sleeping Around

An extremely tight, well-written and well-acted show. Each of the talented actors got to shine in two entirely distinct ways, as they play one particular angle in one scene, and a wholly different angle in the scene immediately following. Superstar Greg Crafts, for instance kills with comedy in one scene then kills with heartbreak in the next. Major admiration and props for all.... full review

Fish Out Of Whiskey:A Lawyer Who Just Wants You Off His Case

Wade Skalsky is the feel-good story of Hollywood Fringe 2015. A first-timer, not just at Fringe but at acting/writing ANYTHING (except maybe legal briefs for his day job as an attorney). You'd never know it. He has a natural charm and wicked sense of humor and has created a thoroughly engaging, compelling, hilarious show. I'm guessing half his budget went toward a single, show-stopping prop involving a giant clam shell and drinking straws that had me pissing my pants. His show is a must-see and ... full review

Getting to Know You

Up front, I gotta say I'm not the ideal audience for the crazily inventive show. I'm not usually fond of audience interaction, much less a heavily immersive piece like this; let me sit in the back row and please don't even so much as look me in the eye. Still, this is so firmly in the wheelhouse of Fringe and certain audience members are going to adore it. Even with my misgivings, I was so impressed with the writing, acting and creativity on display. There is some seriously thoughtful stuff going... full review

MAX & ELSA: NO MUSIC. NO CHILDREN.

I've somehow never seen The Sound of Music and somehow it wasn't necessary to thoroughly enjoy this show stuffed full of SOM references. There's enough smart/sly/stupid silliness that I laughed the entire time. I have huge admiration for actors who play things outrageously over the top yet still 100% committed to the "realness" of their characters. This cast excels at this with a special nod to the supremely funny Clayton Farris. Apparently they've sold out their run but are adding performances. ... full review

Helmet Heart

This was a damn funny (and brisk!)show. Some wonderfully larger than life but totally committed performances brought Kathy Fisher's lively, hilarious script to life. Even the smaller characters were spot on! It's a go!... full review

Only the Moon Howls

A really thoughtful and beautiful show written by one of my favorite playwrights Dean Farell Bruggeman. Skilled, subtle acting offset at times by the hilarious utility player, Lane Allison. An excellent production you should make time to see.... full review
