Dear Hollywood: A modern day actress from a bygone era

refreshing, delightful, and just a nice little breather for your fringe experience. Julisa is adorable... her show is easy to digest, easy to understand, and it's really a lovely addition to all things fringe.... full review

Murder Blood Bear Story

katelyn, in murder, blood, bear story is like part nymph/faery, part dead girl (not sure why I'm saying dead girl, but that could be cuz it's other worldly and well...), who also happens to be a 'happy nut'. that being, she's searching for happiness... well, making others happy... and i find happiness an interesting topic. She transforms into several characters and as an actress and a person onstage, she's got energy up the wazoo and is a joy to watch. This show is poetic, energetic and doesn't n... full review

Ex Communication

first off, i'm an amy granados fan since last year's fringe, so to see her shine in a play was vunderbar. second, the writing was clean, there were interesting surprises, and honestly, despite whatever 'reasons' our main fellah is meeting his old dames and flames, I liked him. He was a likable actor that could have come across like a real dick. The writing had a trajectory, everything had a reason, and I enjoyed all the character quirks and what nots. Definitely a fun way to spend the hour, and w... full review

Shakespeare's Last Night Out (or What? YOU, Will??)

to be honest, i think i'm more of a michael shaw fisher fan than a shakespeare fan, and to see any of MSF's creations delights me. This guy is prolific, fun, a delightful, committed actor, and the real deal. Yes, it's nice to see first timers at the festival, but for me, seeing someone create over and over again like Michael does, is where it's at. A true artist/actor/writer who owns that three of clubs stage (and room)... and keeps us entertained from start to finish. I can only imagine if you'r... full review

The Board

this was such a well done piece. well written, well acted, simple staging, yes, but a whole world flowed. honestly, i find it fascinating when someone else does a 'solo show' from someone else's words, but this monologue was expertly written and expertly played, and I sat in the theatre riveted the entire time. The subject matter (let's just say anything army, air force, navy, marines... or coast guard in this case) is way beyond my scope, however, I understood, and I was so glad I did. Vivid, ... full review

Susan Tierney

this woman is no joke. she's riveting, haunting, and definitely proves the fact that less is more. Susan can say so much with just one little tweak in her movement, and it's fascinating to watch, not to mention, listen to! I know her run is over for the fringe, but I just have to say, this woman is the real deal. Her voice unique. Her style engaging. She's really something to see. And if you missed her this year, I hope you catch her in a theatre soon. She's someone to learn from!... full review

Cookie & The Monster

i really enjoyed Cookie And The Monster, and as someone who has created many solo shows, I loved seeing the world come alive around Cookie. The show has a rhythm of it's own and it takes a dark turn, but the turn, for me, as a 14 year old who was hospitalized due to some of the chaos that Cookie goes through is so relatable. I felt for cookie and admired her strength, as some of my monsters still keep me up at night. At one point in time, I experienced a moment that seemed very graphic novel-esqu... full review

The Inside Edge of the World

I'm not going to say I understand everything that was happening in this show, (cuz once I hear a talking dog I think immediately of David Berkowitz, which might be the point)... but one thing's for sure, you will watch a talented guy go back and forth between characters and a crazy story with such assuredness and fluidity, the story can take a back seat. This Michael fella is no joke. One of the strongest actors I've seen on the stage this fringe. And the directing was very well done. The opening... full review

Am I a Grownup Yet?

greyson is an interesting storyteller... deep, yet funny... stand-up-ish yet artistic... it's like you're in someone very interesting's basement and listening and watching them share about their life. I'm not sure what path she is pursuing off stage, but I can only hope that she is testing the waters with her strengths, and I look forward to seeing a follow up show next year about some other topic. That being said, I did think there were many aspects about her show that were quirky and screenplay... full review

Zip Ties

i thought the writing of this piece was fantastic, and truly some of these young'uns on the stage are gonna do some good things. The play was fast, quick witted, and at times it's in the zone. The play perked UP when the irish guy came onstage... (not just cuz he was good looking and talented, easy folks!) but honestly, for me, when he came out, he brought the others up to his level. (this could have had more to do with general urgency, and some stunning gun shots, but it's something to note). Al... full review
