The Devil You Say

Robin Walsh is a fantastic puppeteer. And the puppet is memorizing. Meeting the puppet in person at one of the Fringe events is strange and haunting. It really is a spooky thing to watch. And Kila Packett has a great voice that fits right in with the Devil's musings. A little stage business rounds out this moody, artful piece. ... full review

I've seen this show three times now over the years and it's still one of the funniest live shows I've ever seen. Dean Cameron and Victor Isaac are flat out awesome. I could stop there because if funny is what you're after, see this show. Easy. But this show is much more than a guy goofing off on the internet with some criminal overseas. This show is an exercise in the delivery of justice. Stay with me. Keep in mind, the whole show is the reading of an email exchange between Cameron an... full review

Ray Bradbury's Pillar Of Fire

Bill Oberst Jr is fantastic. Let's just get that out of the way. It's a one man show and he's the man. And he's huge. Such a great performance. To say "And the the material is Ray Bradbury" is underselling the weight of what's going on here. This is Ray Bradbury at his early best. You can see so much of his future stories in this piece. Poe, Lovecraft, fire, autumn, a seemingly absurd premise played out to its logical and most human conclusion. Censorship. Persecution. Technological neo-purit... full review

The Oy of Sex

This is a pretty straightforward show. Alicia Dattner takes us on a walk through her (not exactly) romantic history and uses that as the basis for some soul searching and some answers mining. So far, it sounds like a dozen shows you've seen. Today. But what makes this a show worth seeing is Dattner's spirit. Her enthusiasm on stage is intoxicating. When it's over, you want to run out and do your own one person show (or kiss the first person you meet). You get the idea she's not just a gre... full review

Cookie & The Monster

Having seen parts of this story at Sacred Fool's Serial Killers, I was glad to know that Jaime Andrews had pushed ahead and completed a full script. Personifying that nagging voice we all have in our head is a compelling idea and watching Mr. Leggett's embodiment of that ever-present voice is a lot of fun even as Monster pushes, accuses, blames, and guilts Cookie (Andrews) into becoming a low functioning, bad-girl version of herself. As Cookie indulges in all sorts of self-destructive behavio... full review

WOOF-WOOF

Riveting. The cast is terrific and the way the thing unfolds, the patience, the ferocity, the relentless, bent masculinity, I almost felt like I couldn't keep up. Just masterful. This is what the Fringe is about, I think. Feeling like the action onstage just might sweep out into the audience and suck us in. I wish this were a regular run so I could see it again. I could go and on. Jesus. What a show. ... full review
