Less a play than a sitcom, or perhaps a web series. This is a sweet effort from a young company that reminded me of watching a high school show. There are scattered laughs, but that's about it. A more successful version of this show would be Third Date. fringeblog.webs.com... full review

Double Bind

Boy did this play leave me cold. A man's domestic life is interrupted by a shady friend from his past. The performances were fine, I guess, but I was not interested in any of it. The fact that this show appears to be well-received brings me back to those Magic Eye books, where I could never see the picture. I would give this a solid "Miss." http://fringeblog.webs.com/... full review

The Third Date

This is a simple story, but it's funny and enjoyable from beginning to end. I've seen enough Fringe to know that counts as a triumph. fringeblog.webs.com ... full review

Shakespeare's "King Phycus"

An inspired Shakespeare mash up with 6 actors boldly portraying a cast of thousands. Word play meets physical gags, high comedy meets low, and the amazing cast is tireless as top notch direction keeps them racing around the giant Elephant Stages. Any show that works in parodies of The Music Man AND Abbott & Costello is OK with me. fringeblog.webs.com... full review

The Devil and Billy Markham

I was wowed by Aaron's rendition of this funny and filthy epic poem. His character work is excellent and his sense of play is a joy to watch. Backed by a rocking band and a hard-working dancer, this piece is a perfect fit for the seedy 3 Clubs. Must see. fringeblog.webs.com... full review

Wonderlust: A Performance of Magic

David Gabbay is decidedly more low-key than David & Leeman, but I preferred his illusions. The tiny theater, more akin to the Magic Castle's close up gallery, offers a great view. [But seriously- just go to the Magic Castle. It's not that hard to get in, and it f*cking rocks]. fringeblog.webs.com... full review

The Real Housekeepers of Studio City

A lady must choose domestic help from among TV Land's finest. This is slightly more compelling than it sounds. The music is strong and the cast sings well. The book doesn't quite live up. fringeblog.webs.com... full review

White Trash Wedding and a Funeral

A Jerry Springer Show come to life. This might be worth seeing for the costumes alone. The cast has fun, and delivers exactly what's promised. See it late-night and see it drunk.... full review

It's Important to Leave, as well (Feed Your Fringe)

A man is sent to a bizarre acting company that reenacts scenes from his life. This felt like early Durang. The writing is intriguing and funny, the direction impressive, and the performances great. This feels the definition of what Fringe is meant to be- an outside-the-box script handled beautifully. fringeblog.webs.com... full review

What I Learned From Porn

This is a genial man with a dull show. He paces the stage indiscriminately. Lights change randomly, but his slow cadence never does. There's no credited director, and that's not a surprise. fringeblog.webs.com... full review
